Moxibustion is a Chinese technique that can be incorporated into an Acupuncture session, when needed. Moxa (which is utilised in Moxibustion) is the herbal substance which is commonly used , it is commonly known as mugwort (AiYe in Chinese), which has a unique warming / Yang quality . In order to activate these properties the moxa herb is ignited and positioned at about one inch away from the surface of the skin, as to bring warmth to the desired acupuncture point.
Moxibustion therapy can be integrated into a treatment session through a variety of different applications, such as: Stick Moxa (which looks like a big cigar), loose moxa (which can be combined with Ginger, Salt or by itself), direct (rice grain) moxa or on the end of a needle.
